Day 0-30
Recovery of Debts & Bankruptcy Act, 1993 (RDDBFI Act)
This is the main law under which DRTs were established. The DRTs have exclusive jurisdiction to recover debts of banks and financial institutions of an amount exceeding 20 lakh. The procedure in the DRT is a simplified one. It is not bound by the Code of Civil Procedure. This means you need an advocate who knows the special rules of procedure in the DRT.

SARFAESI Act, 2002
This law allows banks and NBFCs to seize your mortgaged property without a court order. Before doing so, they need to serve you a 60-day demand notice under Section 13(2).
